Overview

Akiyama Shotaro (1920-2003) is a representative Showa Era photographer. The recommendation of his close friend’s older brother when Akiyama was about 13 years old opened his eyes to photography, and he went on to be active as a photographer capturing such varying motifs as actresses and landscapes, dolls and authors. In this exhibit, we commemorate 100 years since his birth, tracing his photographic images and his work as a photographer.
